CROP Hunger Walkers bring relief to Puerto Rico

Another reason to be part of a nationwide effort that splits proceeds globally AND locally . Here's a message from a national CROP Hunger Walk organizer - please join our Ventura walk and donate tomorrow afternoon:
"As we enter the peak season for CROP Hunger Walks across the nation, we can’t thank you enough for adding to the momentum in the fight to end hunger. CROP Hunger Walkers are generous givers! Together, Walkers have already raised more than half a million dollars in online donations - and that doesn’t include cash/check donations that are currently being tallied! Because of you, we are making great strides toward a world where all have nutritious food, clean water and a safe place to call home.
As you can imagine, many Walkers have been directly impacted by this year’s storms, so we wanted to share a snapshot of our ongoing hurricane relief efforts. The CWS/CROP team is already helping in Texas, Florida, Cuba and Haiti, and now we are adding Puerto Rico to our response as we make plans to ship CWS Hygiene Kits and tarps to affected communities following Hurricane Maria. Thank you. Your steps hold so much meaning for those who must journey for shelter and safety when disasters strike."

Come Celebrate After the Walk

We really appreciate the effort our walkers put into walking to raise money and awareness about hunger and the need for clean water in the world. Once again, Virgil Nelson and friends will offer Footwashing/Massages to walkers and runners who would like to rest and relax when they finish their routes.

This year, local musician and songwriter, Tommy Quayle, has gathered some of his friends and former/current bandmates to entertain us musically! This concert is free to our walk participants, AND we welcome folks from our community who would like to enjoy the music to make a donation and join the fun - feel free to dance! We ask that you put a cash or check donation in our CROP jar to add to our walkers' fundraising efforts. 25% of every donation will go to Project Understanding's Food Pantry. The rest will help provide disaster relief and provide food, education, and clean water programs around the world.

It's not too late to join the walk - register online at crophungerwalk.org/venturaca or contact us

Walk day has finally arrived and we're excited! Please arrive between 1:00 and 1:45 in order to avoid a long line at check-in. Runners will start a few minutes before 2pm and walkers will head out at 2:00.
Just a few reminders: bring your envelope with the money you raised and turn it in today. If you have more to collect, we'll keep the top yellow form and you'll have 2 more weeks to turn in the envelope. If you collected online, print that form and bring it today.
We've all been hoping for an end to the heatwave and we got our wish! It will be breezy with a slight chance of a shower. WE WALK, RAIN OR SHINE ðŸŒˆ
